3-WEEK BEGINNERS ASHTANGA COURSE

A 3-week course designed specifically for beginners. Absolutely no experience or flexibility required! 


The course will gradually build up over the 6 classes, linking breath and movement together to find a moving meditation. You'll learn how to adapt or modify poses so the practice works for you and your body, and I'll be available after each class to chat or answer any questions you may have.


By the end of the course, you'll have the confidence and knowledge to practise yoga on your own or join a class, not to mention a healthier body and mind. 

The classes will run on both Monday and Wednesday evenings so there will be 6 classes in total. The classes are 1 hr, with about 45 minutes spent working on postures. The rest of the time will include some basic theory or explanations, breath work and a savasana, or relaxation, at the end.

GOOD TO KNOW

I'M THE MOST INFLEXIBLE PERSON IN THE WORLD WITH A WEAK CORE - IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?

Yes! Despite what photos of yoga might suggest, the practice is not about how strong or flexible you are and we will modify poses to suit your body. It is a practice for the mind, and using physical postures helps us to find stillness in the mind. You'll become stronger and more flexible over time, but this is more of a bonus than a goal.

DO I NEED TO DO THE CLASS ON MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS?

Ideally, yes. Each class will build on the previous one, so if you only do one day you'll miss out on half of the classes. If you can't make a class one week, let me know in advance and I'll try to get a recording to you.

DO I NEED ANY EQUIPMENT?

  • Ideally a yoga or exercise mat, but the floor will do if not!

  • Comfortable clothing you can move in.

  • Zoom app downloaded and a device you can stream the class on. 

  • Some people like to have a block or cushion to sit on, which can help if you have tight hamstrings, but it is not a requirement. 

DO I HAVE TO TURN MY VIDEO ON?

No. But it's better if you do, so I can get to know you and give more personalised instructions. It also helps to build a sense of community and feels more like a real life class! If you're not comfortable with it on for the class, maybe just turn it on at the beginning to say hello.

DOES THE SLIDING PAY SCALE APPLY TO THIS COURSE?

Yes. The course is £25 full price but you can select half price or free options if you are currently experiencing financial difficulties. Enter 'HALFIE' or 'FREEBIE' at the checkout for discounts.

WHAT IS ASHTANGA?

Ashtanga is a traditional style of yoga combining breath and movement. It's based on a set sequence of postures which you learn over time. There is a lot more to it than that but you'll have to join the course to find out the rest!
